Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria. was formed by the need to regulate community health practice & is made up of health professionals to serve in rural communities where the FG constructed basic, primary & comprehensive health clinic.
In pursuance of its statutory obligations and functions as clearly stated in Part 1, Section 1 a of the Community Health Practitioners (Registration, etc) Act, the Board is charged with the duty of "determining what standards of knowledge and skills are to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the profession of Community Health and improving those standards from time to time as circumstances may permit." So far, about 178, 215 Practitioners made up of Community Health Officers (CHOs), Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) and Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEWs), have been trained since 1979.
